Gerardo Ferreyra is a businessman, shareholder and Director of Grupo Electroingeniería. In his youth, he was a member of urban guerrilla Ejército Revolucionario del Pueblo (ERP). He was incarcerated in 1975. There he met two people who would have significant influence in his future businesses: Carlos Zannini – Legal and Technical Secretary during the three Kirchner’s administrations (2003–2015) – and Roberto Sosa, who served as official in the three Peronist administrations in Córdoba since 1999 (as Secretary of Industry, Secretary of Government, President of Banco Provincia of Córdoba and Minister of Investment).
As an engineering student at Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, he became friends with Osvaldo Acosta, who, after being released from prison, hired him as an employee for Electroingeniería in Buenos Aires. They started a relationship that later became a partnership with the group’s expansion into public works, first in Córdoba and then nationally, when Néstor Kirchner came into office (especially after the coming into power of Carlos Zannini and Ricardo Jaime [born in Córdoba], who awarded the first tenders to Grupo Electroingeniería while serving in José Manuel De La Sota’s administration in Córdoba).
Sebastián Ferreyra, his son, is a member of the board of directors of most of the group’s companies. However, he is mainly responsible for managing the group’s media (Radio Del Plata, 360TV and, until 2018, FM Pulxo) through company Grupo Empresarial Argentino (GEASA). He is a shareholder, together with the children of Osvaldo Acosta, his father’s partner.
Due to a series of corruption cases during the Kirchner’s administrations, Gerardo Ferreyra is in prison, accused of paying bribes for several public works tenders awarded to Grupo Electroingeniería.
The group continues to do profitable business with the Argentinian Government, currently led by Mauricio Macri.
