Radio 10

AM 710 started to operate in 1927 with the support of the wife of the then President of the Argentinian Republic, Marcelo T. De Alvear. It was the first State-owned radio station in the country.

In 1995 the radio was privatized. The bid was awarded to a corporation managed by businessmen and journalist Daniel Hadad, whose members were popular TV host Marcelo Tinelli, Raúl Fernández and Oscar Salvi. The Buenos Aires State-owned radio station was assigned a different AM frequency: AM 1110. Radio 10 started to operate in 1998, after a long litigation process. A few months after its launching (March 1999), Hadad sold most of his stock to Grupo Emmis, of American capitals. Once he purchased the radio station again in 2003, Daniel Hadad made Radio 10 the leading radio of the AM segment. The radio’s leadership ended in 2012, when it was purchased

by Cristóbal López (Grupo Indalo). López purchased Hadad’s media group (Radio 10, FM Mega, FM Vale, FM TKM and FM Pop, together with TV channel C5N) and changed the media’s editorial line. The new editorial line, which was supportive of the Kirchner’s administration, together with the dismissal of some of the group’s most popular hosts, caused a fall in audience figures. Today it is the second most popular news radio station (together with Radio La Red).

Its programming features renowned TV and radio hosts, with a politically eclectic discourse.
