Daminato-Scaglione Family

The name Daminato is a trademark among the business community in the city of Rosario, province of Santa Fe. Of Italian origins, the family founded their first airline of Santa Fe capitals and obtained their first license as stockbrokers in 1886. Carlos Daminato (1925–2017) was a broker in several ship companies, an Italian bank agent and, years later, he established an innovative tourist company for students.

In spite of his growing business success, the family has always kept a low profile. Currently, its main companies are Daminato Sociedad de Bolsa S.A. and Daminato Viajes y Cambio S.A., both managed by Carlos’s youngest child: Josefina. An accountant by profession, she married Gustavo Scaglione, whose family manufactures transportation equipment. Scaglione became part of his wife’s family business and was responsible of the student unit at the travel agency, which was a leading company in the city.

In 2015 the couple entered the media sector when they purchased 55% of Televisión Litoral S.A. (each holds 27.5% of the stock). Scaglione is the President of the holding, which includes Canal 3 (the second most watched channel in the city), Radio 2 (the most popular among local AM radio stations), FM Vida (also leading the charts in its segment), FM Frecuencia Plus and online news portal Rosario3.com.

Moreover, since 2018, Scaglione and Daminato, in partnership with a group of local businesspeople, have been negotiating the purchase of Rosario’s main newspaper, La Capital, which still belongs to Grupo América.

They also co-own Daconia S.A. and Finca Cerro Medina, two agricultural real state companies.
